Automated Password Reset Process

The Active Directory Password Reset Process allows end users to quickly and securely reset their own network password without having to contact the corporate help desk.  The Automated Password Reset Process will:
  1. Reduce Employee downtime due to expired or forgotten passwords.
  2. Reduce help desk tickets
  3. Expedites the password reset process

  1. A number of inquiries were received around the differences between the process in the video that was posted and the password reset process that is included with Symantec ServiceDesk. Here are some of the key differences:

    • The process presented does not require the end user to be on the network to reset their pw as it uses the notion of challenge questions to ensure that the end user is in fact resetting their own password. This allows users that are traveling and/or working during off hours to reset their password without having to rely on the help desk, their manager or anyone else.

    • This process does not require a manager approval to reset your password, hence eliminating any delays that could be caused by waiting for this step in the process. Your manager could be unavailable for a period of time which would delay the password reset process.
